GIVE BACK
#GIVEBACK
For the month of March SHE’S WEARING has chosen to donate to our local Safe Space Organization as our monthly GIVE BACK initiative. Previously meeting the manager Wendy from personally collecting gently used clothing for women and children. Wendy had such a passion and love for what she does that it just made us really want to help the organization so much more.
Safe space provides shelter to women and children in domestic abuse situations. If you don’t know them please check them out and if you have any gently used clothes for women or children you would like to donate we would be happy to pick them up and bring them to Wendy.

Mission:
SafeSpace offers victims of domestic violence safety, support and education, empowering them to create an independent life, free from violence.
Vision:
SafeSpace helps every victim of intimate partner violence of any kind in our community to have the courage to leave and the empowerment to thrive.
SafeSpace, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, is the only Certified Domestic Violence Center saving lives 24/7 and preventing domestic violence throughout the Treasure Coast of Indian River, Martin and St. Lucie counties. It is the local area expert in providing domestic violence services and offers a safe haven to victims and their children as they seek refuge from physical and emotional abuse.
SafeSpace is much more than just a crisis hotline and an emergency shelter. It empowers victims to become survivors by providing an extensive array of other programs and services, including legal assistance, financial literacy training, emotional and mental health counseling, advocacy, community outreach, and prevention education.
WHY WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
Help SafeSpace continue to open the door to a future free from violence. Help us stop the cycle of violence and empower victims to help themselves become independent, self-sufficient and safe.
Domestic violence statistics in the U.S. are staggering.
- 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have experienced some form of intimate partner violence.
- Every minute an average of 20 people are abused by intimate partners.
- 4 women are murdered by their partners every day.
- Over 12 million people are affected by intimate partner violence every year.
- Over 15 million children are exposed to domestic violence each year.
- On an average day, domestic violence hotlines nationwide receive over 20,000 calls.
On the Treasure Coast, over 20,000 cases of domestic violence have been reported in the first 5 months of 2020. COVID-19 has set the stage for an exacerbated domestic violence crisis with the abused and the abuser spending more time than usual in close quarters.
Since federal, state and local grants only cover about 70% of the agency’s expenses, SafeSpace needs your help to raise the other 30% in order to implement all the much needed programs. You can make a difference in the lives of thousands of women, men and children every year.
